Announcement 2008

In memory of the late former scientific director of BESSY, the Society of Friends and Sponsors of BESSY awards annually the "Ernst-Eckhard-Koch-Prize". This prize is given for outstanding doctoral theses in the field of research with synchrotron radiation performed at either BESSY or HASYLAB, Hamburg, which were completed during the current or past year. The Ernst-Eckhard-Koch-Prize includes a monetary award amounting to 2.500 Euro. The awardee will be chosen by a selection committee and the prize presented in a ceremony during this year’s BESSY Users' Meeting on December 4, 2008

in Berlin.

The executive committee of the Society is now calling for proposals of candidates. Closing date:

September 28, 2008

The bestowal of the doctor’s degree must have been successfully completed by that time. Scientists who are active in the field of synchrotron radiation research are invited to present a substantiated proposal. This should include the doctoral thesis as printed copy as well as in digital form, a curriculum vitae, a list of publications and be addressed to the Chairman of the Society (Wolfgang.Gudat(at)bessy.de)..
