Adlershof Technology Park is committed to openness and tolerance
Start of major online and offline campaign with banners and posters
35,000 people, 35,000 stories. One goal: Crafting future from diverse perspectives.
WISTA Management GmbH (WISTA), managing company of the Adlershof Technology Park, has initiated a local campaign for more tolerance and openness, which is now being launched. Together with local partners - companies and scientific institutions - WISTA is sending out a clear signal that diversity is a strength of the technology park and at the core of its success. The initiative is also a reaction to the tendencies towards segregation and discrimination that have become increasingly apparent in parts of European society in recent months.
Large-scale banners and posters as well as online will draw attention to the campaign from today.
The first supporting institutions include Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung, Ferdinand-Braun-Institut, Leibniz-Institut für Hochfrequenztechnik, Science Network IGAFA, Forschungsverbund Berlin, Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin für Materialien und Energie, Reiner Lemoine Institut and BTB Blockheizkraftwerks- Träger- und Betreibergesellschaft mbH Berlin.
The Adlershof Technology Park, Germany's largest and most successful science and technology park and Berlin's largest media location, is home to more than 1,300 companies and 18 scientific institutions with around 28,000 employees from more than 50 countries. There are also around 6,500 students.
"They are all different, regardless of their religions, countries of origin, career paths, world views or talents. The diversity of the people working, studying, researching and living here is inspiring. Perhaps this is the most important economic success factor of the Adlershof Technology Park," says WISTA Managing Director Roland Sillmann, explaining the idea behind the campaign.
He continues: "We want to show everyone at the site and beyond: Everyone who is tolerant, appreciates democratic values and wants to get involved is welcome in Adlershof. We are all united here by our enthusiasm for science and the motivation to use it to find solutions to the major challenges facing the world. Each individual contributes their own skills and perspectives when it comes to developing products, researching phenomena and solving problems. We focus on what unites us, together we can achieve a lot. We need a strong community and not one against the other. The campaign is also intended to set an external example for everyone to see. There is no place for hatred, exclusion and discrimination in Adlershof."
"Diversity is part of our RLI identity and values, which are shaped by all the people at the institute. We have set this out in our RLI Charter. Currently, it is important to do more to strengthen the issues of diversity and tolerance and to take action against discrimination. This year, for example, we have clarified our Article 7 'No to racism and discrimination' and are happy to support this important initiative in Adlershof," says Dr. Kathrin Goldammer, Managing Director of the Reiner Lemoine Institute.
