Research institute IRIS Adlershof ended
After 15 years, the funding phases for the “Integrative Research Institute for the Sciences” at HU Berlin have been completed
Since its founding in 2009, the Integrative Research Institute for the Sciences of Humboldt University in Berlin – IRIS Adlershof – looks back on 15 years of successful work. IRIS Adlershof has developed into an internationally recognized player in the fields of Hybrid Systems for Optics and Electronics as well as Space—Time—Matter. Additionally, the areas of Big Data, Quantum Technology, and Catalysis have been established.
IRIS Adlershof was intended as an innovative but temporary structure to connect core competencies with partners from research and industry and to promote the development of young scientists. With the IRIS research building and the founding of the Center for the Science of Materials Berlin (CSMB) and the Kolleg Mathematik Physik Berlin (KMPB), we have created important prerequisites for interdisciplinary research at the Campus Adlershof. The idea of IRIS Adlershof will therefore live on beyond its expiry at the end of October 2024.
With a finissage on October 21, 2024, the institute bid a ceremonial farewell to its members and partners. In a final report, the IRIS members are presented and the research activities and development of the institute are summarised:
