A² Accelerator kicking off with fresh ideas for future smart cities
At the Technology Park Adlershof, the start-ups of A² are realising pilot projects with renowned industrial partners
The “A² Adlershof Accelerator ‘Smart City’” is kicking off on 23 August 2018. Five young companies - AR4 GmbH (Graz), Breeze Technologies UG (Hamburg), dive solutions GmbH (Berlin), M2MGo GmbH (Berlin), S O NAH UG (Aachen) – will realise pilot projects with three so-called industrial partners - Aareal Bank AG, Berliner Wasserbetriebe, MVV Energie AG – in the course of the next five months. The programme provides start-ups with tailored support, including professional coaching, free-of-charge co-working spaces, and access to networks and contacts.
The city of the future will be an intelligent city – a smart city. Smart technology will play a major part in confronting the ecological, social, economic and cultural challenges of growing metropolitan areas and in finding comprehensive, interdisciplinary solutions.
Our A² Accelerator “Smart City” wants to make a start where future innovation is visible today: energy, smart buildings, communication, IT and security. The Science and Technology Park Berlin Adlershof boasts its own water, wastewater, gas and electricity grid, which is an ideal “micro-urban laboratory” for testing smart city applications. The focus will be on sensor technology.
On 12 June 2018, the so-called Pitching Day, fifteen start-ups presented themselves to the so-called industrial partners. Then, the young companies have the opportunity to lay down the binding goals and contents of their pilot projects. This is a requirement for taking part in the A² Accelerator.
During the 5-month programme, five select start-ups will go through comprehensive coaching and support programmes. This will include topics such as “agile management” (for start-ups and established companies). Moreover, all young start-ups may make use of up to six hours of coaching with the international tax and strategy consulting company PwC and/or the international law firm Osborne Clark. Coaching topics range from topics related to strategy, business management, and taxes to legal issues and international business issues.
In addition, the start-ups will be supported by two network partners (bne Association of Energy Market Innovators and ZVEI - German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers Association). Both associations provide young companies with opportunities to present themselves at various events in front of their member companies as well as giving them insights into current trends in the energy sector and the industry.
