Team of the Ferdinand-Braun-Institut receives Big Laser Award
FBH scientists awarded at ISLC 2022
Scientists from the Ferdinand-Braun-Institut were honored last week with the "Big Laser Award" for the highest performance presented at the "International Semiconductor Laser Conference" (ISLC) in Japan. The award went to the paper "2 kW Pulse Power from Internal Wavelength Stabilized Diode Laser Bar for LiDAR Applications" by authors Andrea Knigge, Nor Ammouri, Heike Christopher, Johannes Glaab, Armin Liero, Jörg Fricke, and Hans Wenzel.
During the talk, a diode laser bar was presented in a pulse driver also developed at FBH with an output power of 2.2 kW in nanosecond pulse mode. The pulse power could be increased by a factor of more than 3 by developing a new epitaxial structure with 3 wavelength-stabilized active zones.
