Room For More Urbanity
By Michael Müller, Mayor and Senator for Urban Development and the Environment
Every day, 23,000 people come to Adlershof. They work, do research and study in the City of Business and Science, profiting from the excellent network between 900 businesses, the Humboldt University of Berlin and external research institutions.
Currently, the dynamic development of the location is particularly apparent in the interest of medium-sized technology and manufacturing enterprises drawn to the axis of investment along Groß- Berliner Damm. Moreover, thanks to the reopening of the enlarged Adlershof S-Bahn bridge, Rudower Chaussee is becoming a focal point for service provider-oriented private investors.
Adlershof is further gaining in quality of life and urbanity. Due to the new Wohnen am Campus district, the successful location is developing into a diverse home for more than 2,000 residents. As part of an ensemble of rental and owner-occupied flats as well as, for the first time, student accomodation, around 1,000 living units are being created near the landscape park. Here, residents across the generations – families, singles, students and senior citizens – can join in contributing to Adlershof’s growing vibrancy.
After successful agreements with municipal housing associations, private investors, building groups, a student village and housing cooperatives, the State of Berlin, together with Adlershof Projekt GmbH, are currently reviewing options for the development of further residential locations in Adlershof.
