R3Coms wins biennial DKE-funded Project on “Wireless Safety” at DIN-Connect Challenge.
The twenty winning projects were evaluated by the Presidential Committee for Research Innovation Development (Präsidialausschuss Forschung Innovation Entwicklung - SO-FIE) for DIN and by the Advisory Group Technology (Beraterkreis Technologie – BKT) for the DKE based on set of predefined criteria, in close consultation with the standards committees. The project proposed by R3Coms is among the four projects funded by DKE with the maximum support ratio of 60%. In addition to topics related to Industry 4.0, projects concerning the cutting and puncture resistance of medical gloves, energy efficiency in data centers and methods for increasing the eye safety of retina laser systems are among the winning projects.
"It is a special pleasure for us that our wireless safety standardization project was selected out of a wide range of topics - it shows that reliable radio communication is of high importance for industrial applications," comments Managing Director Dr. Mathias Bohge his company’s success at the DIN-Connect Challenge. His codirector Florian Bonanati adds: “The vision of a completely connected Smart Factory will hardly realize without reliable radio communications - its standardization will be a key success factor of Industry 4.0."

About DIN, DKE and DIN Connect
DIN and its subsidiaries are the comprehensive service provider for national, European and international standardization projects. Customers benefit from a worldwide network and nearly 100 years of experience. The DKE is the platform for a results-oriented dialogue to develop widely accepted electro technical norms and standards. The DKE collects knowledge, information and interests from all relevant stakeholders in a consensual manner and publishs the results as an integral part of the German Standards and the VDE regulations. At the beginning of 2017 the winning projects from the first round of DIN-Connect, the new program for the promotion of innovation of DIN and DKE, were launched. Already the first-ever contest of ideas (1 July to 31 October 2016) was a complete success - more than 400 users have registered on the DIN-Connect innovation platform.
