Method combination of LIBS and X-ray fluorescence for the control of the recycling of sewage sludge ashes
Adlershof scientists develop industrial laboratory prototype for the elemental online analysis
LTB Lasertechnik Berlin has developed an industrial laboratory prototype for the elemental online analysis of sewage sludge ashes in a cooperation project with Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und –prüfung (BAM) and Institut für angewandte Photonik e. V. (IAP). The project partners could successfully demonstrate a method combination of laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) and X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF) in a single analysis system for the first time. The online determination of element mass fractions in the ashes and their products originating from the thermochemical process is required to re-utilize resources e. g. phosphorous or remove pollutants from the sewage sludge ashes.
The project was supported by the Programm zur Förderung von Forschung, Innovationen und Technologien Pro FIT with funds from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under the management of the Investitionsbank Berlin.
