Location with outstanding reputation: Ingeborg Junge-Reyer, Mayor and Senator für urban development
In recent years, Adlershof – the City of Science, Business and Media – has acquired an outstanding reputation as a successful high-tech location in Germany. Numerous prominent research institutions can be found here supplementing the science departments of Humboldt University. Furthermore, Adlershof is home to renowned production businesses that have come to appreciate the synergies this location provides for their specific fields of activity.
As trustee of the Federal State of Berlin, Adlershof Projekt GmbH, has helped businesses such as SOLON and Sulfurcell as well as Freundenberg, Audi and DACHLAND relocate to Adlershof.
In addition to Rudower Chaussee, Groß-Berliner Damm has become Adlershof’s second investment axis. Through development and land consolidation of new commercial plots with a total size of 500,000 square metres, the internationally active agency makes sure that attractive areas for relocation of production and technology-oriented businesses will continue to be available in Berlin.
We all eagerly anticipate the re-opening of the under-bridge at Adlershof train station in 2011. With the enlargement of both bridge and undercrossing, the Federal State of Berlin, in close cooperation with Deutsche Bahn, substantially contributes to the urban enhancement of Rudower Chaussee.
We are pleased that, even at this stage, investors have seized their chance and are planning to put up office buildings along Rudower Chaussee that will enhance the area’s local infrastructure. Adlershof will thus be prepared to meet further space requirements once the airport at Schönefeld has been opened.
Additional urban vitalisation will be generated by the development of “Wohnen am Campus” – a residential area which will provide up to 900 new residential units.
The Federal State of Berlin may reasonably expect Berlin Adlershof to take an overall positive development over the years.
