HPS Home Power Solutions partners with property developer Hausdorf
Hausdorf plans to build twelve single-family homes powered by picea, HPS’s year-round electricity storage system
HPS Home Power Solutions (HPS), provider of picea, the world’s first year-round electricity storage system based on green hydrogen, today announces its collaboration with Hausdorf, a property developer in the Munich area. In their first joint project, Hausdorf plans to build twelve single-family homes powered by picea.
The Hausdorf company is now offering customers picea hydrogen-based electricity storage from HPS as a standard fitting in their new builds. “Hausdorf is a new and attractive sales partner for us. The company stands for modern, sustainable construction and is therefore a perfect match for our innovative and convenient storage solution,” said Zeyad Abul-Ella, co-founder and Managing Director of HPS Home Power Solutions.
With regard to the heat supply, the developer relies on a modern brine-water heat pump for its new development. The picea year-round electricity storage system stores surplus solar power from the summer in the form of hydrogen to operate the heat pump in the winter. The smart combination of heat pump, solar system and picea allows the Munich-based company to offer its customers the most climate-friendly heat supply currently available on the German market.
Moreover, thanks to picea, a large proportion of the homes’ electricity needs will be covered CO2-free and all year round. Besides complying with new climate protection standards for private homes, Hausdorf is, thus, offering the best possible protection against rising energy prices. Construction of the first homes is scheduled to begin in May 2022. The buildings will meet the requirements of the 2020 Buildings Energy Act (GEG) and of KfW-Efficiency House 55 EE.
“At Hausdorf, our aim is to build the best possible homes, which is why we always make use of the most innovative technologies. We build homes that are not only extremely climate-friendly but also provide maximum living comfort. picea from HPS, the first seasonal electricity storage system for buildings on the market, meets our very high standards in these areas,” said Michael Hausdorf, owner and Managing Director of Hausdorf.
About picea
picea is the world’s first commercially available hydrogen-based electricity storage system for buildings. The surplus energy generated by the photovoltaic system on sunny days is stored as green hydrogen and used in the dark season to supply electricity and heat. picea enables a CO2-free full supply of energy all year round and reduces heating costs. Per year, a picea system avoids about three tons of CO2 emissions and this is equivalent to the amount that 130 spruce trees capture annually. picea has received several prestigious awards, most recently the Handelsblatt Energy Award, the smarter E Award and the Berlin-Brandenburg Innovation Award.
