Adlershof celebrates diversity
It is no longer a secret that working in heterogeneous teams is more successful. To celebrate the potential that diversity is creating, Technology Park Adlershof will now host the Diversity Festival for the first time
Under the motto “Every human counts”, WISTA Management GmbH (WISTA) is hosting the “Diversity Festival Adlershof” together with its on-site partners and sponsors on 7 June 2023 between 2pm and 8pm. The first event of its kind is aimed at the technology park community and is also the kick-off for a new diversity network on campus.
“We want to create an awareness for the topic of diversity in society, especially in the context of university and business, among the stakeholders of the Adlershof site,” says Bessie Fischer-Bohn, WISTA department head for human resources, organisation, and quality management. “Innovative, diverse teams are the foundation for our future economic success. We want to raise awareness for this and make our site more appealing for skilled staff.”
The event will feature key panels, master classes, and fishbowl conversations with a wide range of experts and audience participation. How does the leadership of diverse teams work? What can we do to counter structural discrimination in companies? What are the intercultural challenges for onboarding international employees? These are but some of the topics that visitors can look forward to on the day of the festival.
Ralph Langanke, WISTA project head of diversity, and Bessie Fischer-Bohn are pleased to have procured actor and coach Brix Schaumberg as a speaker, a transgender activist who has been campaigning against pigeonholing, labelling, and for a diverse society for years. “The programme will be colourful and diverse. We have workshops by Techniker Krankenkasse on diverse personalities in teams and staying healthy at work. Yolanda Rother from Stiftung Zukunft Berlin will speak on ‘diversity as a business model’. The ‘books’ of the so-called Living Library, who have been supporting WISTA’s work on the issue of ‘unconscious biases’ for a long time, will also be there,” says Langanke.
“It is important to us that our event programme reflects all dimensions of diversity – gender, sexual orientation, age, ethnic and social background and nationality, religion and beliefs, and disability,” explains Fischer-Bohn. Occupying the entire area available for events at WISTA in Rudower Chaussee 17, including the terrace and the park, the festival will be complemented by exhibitors including Fachkräftenetzwerk Adlershof, Adlershof Health Network, and local companies presenting their diversity programmes. Since a festival without music is not a festival, the band Shmaltz (www.shmaltz.de) will create good vibes in the evening, starting at 6pm.
Everybody is invited to come exchange ideas, learn, and celebrate with each other. The current programme and registration can be found here:
