A perfect location for a conference
Adlershof has become a focal point for international conference organisers
For the second time now, the optical industry’s EOSAM conference with around 500 participants will be held in Adlershof. The Optical Society of America (OSA) also values the site and holds its lasers conference with a major trade fair here. Elina Koistinen, Conference Manager and Communications Manager of the European Optical Society (EOS), explains why Adlershof is the perfect location.
It will be conference time again in September: for five days around 500 participants and 50 exhibitors will visit Adlershof for EOSAM 2016. As a future-proof venue, it is the ideal platform for networking, partnerships and making new business contacts. Important representatives of the industry are on site. Conference participants can use the lunch break for business appointments at Adlershof-based optical firms and scientific institutes – a win-win-situation.
Mrs Koistinen, please can you briefly describe what EOSAM 2016 is about. What are the highlights?
EOSAM 2016 is a bi-annual meeting of the European Optical Society (EOS). This year there will be eight different topical events with interesting participants and key note presentations, talks as well as poster sessions. A trade fair, student tutorials, award ceremonies, a conference dinner, relevant site tours and other special events are also planned – 2016 is also an important anniversary year for EOS.
Why have you chosen Adlershof for the conference?
Adlershof is Germany’s largest science park and has a rich history of science and technology. Germany also has a long tradition in optics and photonics. Adlershof has many exciting high-tech facilities and a broad network of businesses. Hundreds of companies and many research institutes are located here within a few minutes’ walk of each other.
What do you hope to gain from the partnership?
Above all, we would like to continue the partnership beyond EOSAM 2016. We plan to further develop close-knit networks and partnerships with various companies, societies and organis-
ations, including WISTA MANAGEMENT and the Adlershof Science Park. And for this year’s event we are hoping for the same great service as last time.
Can you see yourself returning to Adlershof with another event in the future?
Of course. The facilities, the location and the service are very good and we are fortunate to be returning to Adlershof again in 2016.
