Excellence through cooperation: Biotechnology and Life Sciences at Berlin Adlershof
The Science and Technology Park Adlershof ranks among the leading sites for research and development in biotechnology, pharma, analytical technologies, and environmental technologies. Our competencies range from basic research to finished products and technologies. Our scientific institutes and companies cover a wide range of products and services: biotechnological product and process development, analytical technologies (pharma analysis, food analysis, molecular analysis, analysis of air, water and soils, materials and structural analysis), pharmaceutical technology, medicine and medical technology, and environmental technology.
Biotechnology, pharma, analytical technologies and environmental technologies are among Adlershof’s fastest growing technology fields. More than 70 companies with over 800 employees are currently working here. Our companies include: JPT Peptide Technologies, 3B Pharmaceuticals, Scienion, Pensatech Pharma, Vaxxilon Deutschland, and ASCA Angewandte Synthesechemie Adlershof. They are complemented by leading research institutions such as The Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung, BAM), The Leibniz Institute for Ananlytical Science (Leibniz-Institut für Analytische Wissenschaften, ISAS) and the Humboldt University’s Institute for Chemistry.
The high density of university and non-university research institutes offers unique opportunities for interdisciplinary cooperation and production, making Adlershof the leading site for Biotechnology and Life Sciences in Berlin-Brandenburg.
Plenty of space for green technologies
WISTA Management GmbH provides biotechnology companies with a tailored infrastructure with two Centres for Biotechnology and Environmental Technology (ZBU) offering 22,000 m² of space for laboratories, offices and production facilities. ZBU I measures over 200 metres and has a usable area of around 13,000 m². ZBU II has a total of 7,200 m² available. Offering first-class technical building equipment with extensive laboratory space and ready-to-use initial equipment, they provide young biotech companies in particular with the best possible start-up opportunities.
The Adlershof Technology Centres were largely financed with funding from the GRW — Joint Task of Improving Regional Economic Structure and from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
